This lovely single bedroom serviced accommodation on Leamington Road is located within walking distance of the Union Canal.
The Union Canal runs from Falkirk to Edinburgh and is 50km long. While originally constructed to transport minerals to Edinburgh, the canal is now used recreationally by canoeists and rowers from schools and universities. You can also go along the canal for a relaxing walk.
The whole area of Fountainbridge is a short distance west of the city centre. Sean Connery was born and raised in Fountainbridge. His former production company was called Fountainbridge Films.
The photoshoot took place on a crisp and sunny February day. I started by photographing the living room, and the sun was shining right through the window. In this case it only caused some technical difficulties as it makes the scene way more contrasty than a digital camera can handle. Fortunately, there is a solution to that problem, which is to take a number of photographs with different exposures and blend them in Photoshop later. One of the problems that sun rays in the flat can cause is shadows in the wrong places. But this wasn’t an issue here. The pattern of light and shadows actually added interest to the photos of the living room.
The kitchen is located inside of the flat and doesn’t have windows. People using serviced accommodations are likely to dine out. Therefore a large kitchen area with a lovely view isn’t as much of a priority as the location of the property. This flat is close to the city centre and in a quiet area. This is ideal for visitors to Scotland’s capital city.
The best colours for bedrooms are warm-toned neutrals. Medium tones are ideal, because if you go too dark, the room will seem smaller. And if you go too light, the light will bounce around the room and therefore make it less restful. The owners of this one bedroom serviced accommodation on Leamington Road did a good job styling the property.
