Holyrood Road, Old Town

This Holyrood road serviced accommodation is located in a prime location in town. It is within walking distance of the Royal Mile, the Scottish parliament, the Palace of Holyroodhouse and South Bridge.

We were lucky in that the sun was out the day of the photoshoot. Fortunately for me, the sun didn’t directly shine into the flat. This produces high contrast scenes that are difficult to capture with a camera. A blue sky gives the photographs a nice look and feel.

Close up of the dining area. This kind of photo is generally not needed if the house is on sale, but it is good practice for serviced accommodations and interior designers.

Note the nice artwork decorating this flat, and its colour coordination with the rooms the art is displayed in. A nicely decorated flat will likely attract more customers on Booking.com or Airbnb.

Kitchen area, Holyrood road service accommodation
Kitchen area. A fancy kitchen is usually not needed for serviced accommodations as many holiday makers are quite likely to eat out instead of cooking their own meals.

Exterior photo. The entrance door is the red one. But be assured the flat is not one of those just above the pub.

I like to shoot with natural light, because it shows how the rooms actually looks like. It poses technical difficulties, because cameras can’t see the same range of highlights and shadows as the human eye. I therefore have to combine images taken with different exposure settings to mimic what the human eye can see.
