Lindean Place, Leith Links

Living room, serviced accommodation, Leith Links

This single bed serviced accommodation on Lindean Place, Leith Links is very highly rated on Booking.com. The owner made a point to decorate it with many art works. It’s called “Cosy With Character” for a reason.

The property is located in Leith Links, the principal is the principal open space within Leith, the docks district of Edinburgh, Scotland . This public park extends to 18.5 hectares. This is a great location to stay for summer holiday makers, as the park is really beautiful. The single bedroom flat is only a twenty minute ride on public transport away from Princes Street, the main shopping street in Edinburgh. And it is about the same distance away from one of the other main attractions of Scotland’s capital, the Royal Yacht Britannia.

Showing the living room from the window point of view

The weather was overcast the day of the shoot. While I like to see blue skies out of the window, this property is a ground floor one. Therefore in most of the photographs with a window, one sees either the trees in the garden or the building across the street. As a photographer, the softer light of an overcast day makes it technically easier to avoid blown out highlights. The soft light is also more forgiving when it comes to clean windows (although this wouldn’t have been a problem here at all). Having the sun shine directly through the window can reveal every bit of dust on it, and no amount of Photoshop can fix that.

Bathroom, serviced accommodation
Websites like Booking.com prefer landscape images rather than portrait ones. I therefore shoot everything in the landscape format, even when it would make more sense to shoot in portrait (vertical ) mode like for this bathroom
