I photographed this beautiful three bedroom Riversdale Crescent, Murrayfield serviced accommodation for Lions Head Properties. From the back of the property one can see Murrayfield Stadium, which has a seating capacity of 67’144 making it the largest stadium in Scotland and the fifth largest in the United Kingdom, according to Wikipedia. The building is also right next to the Consulate General of China. Finally, Edinburgh Zoo is about a mile away.
Since people typically book serviced accommodations online, via Booking.com, Airbnb.com, Hotel.com or Expedia.com, they are going to form an opinion of your property from the photographs you put on these websites. Moreover, when you search for accommodations, you get to see a bunch of listings. The photographs of your property will show along side the competition. If they don’t compare well, the prospective customer may think you charge way too much for what your accommodation has to offer and move on. This may not be too much of a problem when the demand for hotel rooms is high, you may get a booking if you are one of the few available places. But within the next year or two, the market may very well be a buyer’s market, with more supply than demand. In this case, professional photography can help you get bookings over your competition.
I like to photograph with natural light, because it shows what the property looks like. I also have the lights off during the day, basically for the same reason, as a tenant/guest wouldn’t normally do that. The only reason I would turn the lights on is if the natural light levels are so low that a resident would do the same.
