I photographed this spacious two bedroom property for sale on Ravelston Dykes, Murrayfield for Access 2 View. According to Wikipedia:
“Murrayfield is an affluent area to the west of Edinburgh city centre. The name comes from the estate of Archibald Murray who built Murrayfield House for himself in 1735 on the south-facing slopes over the area.[2] Archibald Murray bought the land from Nisbet of Dean in 1733; it was previously Nisbet’s Park. Alexander Murray, Lord Henderland was born here the year after its construction. Much of the Murrayfield area was semi-rural up until the early 19th century. Murrayfield is known for Murrayfield Stadium, home to the Scottish national rugby union team and venue for many sporting events.”
The owners had been living in this property for a long time, and were looking to scale down and move into a retirement flat. This explain the somewhat old fashioned interior decorating of this lovely house. Apart from the two bedrooms, the property comprises a spacious living loom, a dining room, a kitchen with its own dining area, a large study room, a conservatory and a number of bathrooms (not all shown here).
On this spring day, the weather was totally overcast. It is not ideal for exterior photographs, I know I prefer a nice blue sky. On the other hand, it makes the interior photographs easier technically. Having the sun shine directly into the property through a window poses some serious technical challenges. It can also show every bit of dirt on the windows.
